What is Brahmanada ?

Brahma is the Sanskrit word means cosmos and nada means sound. So Brahmanada is the cosmic sound, the primal vibration, the divine, ever present creative sound. It is the very core of spiritual practice. The ultimate reality is all-pervading pure consciousness designated by the word Brahma.

Brahma has two aspects: transcendent and immanent. The universe of beings and things is the dynamic manifestation of Brahma. This manifestation begins with sound vibrations. Brahmanada is the transcendent and immanent aspects of Brahma. It is the uninterrupted sound of universe. Only the purified and concentrated mind can hear this subtle sound within.

Sound has four aspects: gross, subtle, casual and primordial. What we hear is the gross form of the sound. In its subtle form, sound is an impulse of electrical energy; in its casual form it is a thought wave; in its primordial form it is the cosmic vibration the Brahmanada.

The masters of Brahmanada have provided a systematic progression of techniques which gradually accustoms the aspirant to new perceptive sensations which at the same time lead him to the path of self-realization.

Brahmanada is so subtle that it is beyond vibration and it is of infinite wavelength. It is music without strings played within the body. It pervades inside and outside and leads you away from illusion.

Background of Divine Sound or Brahmanada

The Divine Sound or Brahmanada is a form of Vibration energy. The long drawn out humming sound called the "Om" has parallels in other cultures as Amen, Amen and Hum. In the stillness of meditation the Yogis claim that the body responds to the vibration.

The meditator hears an unstuck sound called the Anahata or the "Om" in deep meditation. The rishis of the yore were able to sense and distinguish fifty different variations in the "Om" which later on became the fifty alphabets of Sanskrit language.

The human systems have nadis and chakras. Nadis are pathways of cosmic energy and chakras are centers which receive, send and regulate the cosmic energy in the body. The nadis and chakras are not visible to the human eye.

The alphabets of the Sanskrit language have their own vibrations and hence uniquely affect the body systems. Therefore the Nadis and major Chakras of the body are directly affected by the chanting or intoning of Sanskrit syllables and words.

Tones can have positive or negative impact on human health and emotions. When the positive impact is concentrated, it enhances the inherent strengths of body, mind and emotions.

Ancient Indian Literature states that words, mantras, prayers and grammar were beneficiary results of studies on the effects of vibration of the Sanskrit alphabet on the human body and other living things, be it plant or animal.
