On July 4, 2026, America will celebrate the most important milestone in our country’s history – 250 years of American Independence. While perusing around the internet, I was struck by this particular comment by Author Jerry Fabyanic in a recent post he made:
Like you (hopefully), I love America. What’s not to love about an old lady or man who’s 250 years old? Truth be told, there’s plenty not to love because like each of us, Lady Liberty and Uncle Sam are human. They’ve—we’ve—made colossal mistakes, but they’ve also done a lot of good and achieved feats no other nation in history accomplished. Think of it: There’s only one national flag “fluttering” on the moon. The countdown has begun to our semiquincentennial, the 250th birthday of the founding of the Republic. America will need to nearly double that time to equal the longevity of the Roman Republic, but, nonetheless, it’s the oldest in modern times. It’s endured by weathering all manners of assaults, both from without and within. That said, there’s no guarantee America will last another 250 years, or even one. Right now, it’s our turn to carry the torch of liberty over the next leg of the journey. It isn’t nor will it be easy given how the terrain ahead has become strewn with obstacles. To navigate through that successfully, we need to own it all: the good, the bad, and the ugly of our past and present.- https://jerryfabyanic.com/we-the-people-lest-we-forget-our-nations-history/
I think that pretty much sums up the way most intelligent and informed and honest Americans feel. The rest of you divergent folks, well I don’t know what you’re thinking except to say that I often view you all as playing “opposite day” in your minds and actions on a timely basis. Personally, I don’t know why you even live here when there are so many choices out there and other places that might suit your needs better, but hey, that ball is for you to play in your own court. At least ten states—Connecticut, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington—refused to officially participate in the Great American State Fair on the National Mall. Those rapidly becoming infamous states that have refused to participate should be ashamed of themselves. Officials from these states predominantly cited the high financial costs of designing, staffing, and operating booths for multiple weeks. Additionally, several governors, including those in Oregon and Pennsylvania, explicitly cited concerns that the event was too politicized or partisan.
Their reasons are rather lame half-assed covers for the fact that those particular governors suffer TDS big time and refuse to admit it publicly. So be it. You reap what you sow.
Let’s name them:
Massachusetts – Gov. Maura Healey
Oregon – Gov. Tina Kotek
North Carolina – Josh Stein
Connecticut – Ned Lamont
Illinois – JB Pritzker
Maine – Janet Mills
Pennsylvania – Josh Shapiro
Washington – Bob Ferguson
Rhode Island – Dan McKee
Vermont – Phil Scott
Most of these folks had representatives speaking for them on the topic. Why do you suppose that is? I call it chicken. Why can’t people just keep politics out of this 250th celebration? Sickening that people can’t just be patriotic and love this country. I guess we’ll never know because we can’t look inside people’s heads. And we normies don’t need to start getting into conspiracy theories like the current Communist attempt to take over government although even I wouldn’t rule it out.
While these states opted not to send official delegations, the fair’s organizers (Freedom 250) still included representations of all 50 states utilizing private sponsorships and alternate representatives. For example, the North Carolina booth—which operated through private sponsorship rather than the state—made headlines for the display and subsequent removal of a Confederate flag image.
Let’s just enjoy this time and try being a little grateful that we’re even alive to see it.
“Here is your country. Cherish these natural wonders, cherish the natural resources, cherish the history and romance as a sacred heritage, for your children and your children’s children. Do not let selfish men or greedy interests skin your country of its beauty, its riches or its romance.” ―
